Assessment & Monitoring: Performs Apgar scores (assessment of appearance, pulse, grimace, activity, respiration), checks birth weight, and monitors for health
issues.Feeding & Hygiene: Assists with breastfeeding or formula feeding, monitors feeding frequency/wet diapers, and teaches parents about bathing and diapering.
Identification & Safety: Places ID bands, records footprints, and ensures the infant's safety to prevent kidnapping or misidentification.
Education: Teaches parents about feeding cues, soothing techniques, safe sleep environments, and when to call a pediatrician.
